Writing: Original and Licensed Fiction & Nonfiction

With over ten years of experience in writing original and licensed fiction and nonfiction, I’m well-practiced in delivering clean, quality scripts and manuscripts on deadline. I’ve played on both sides of the ball and understand the nuances of IP and licensed fiction, how to navigate approvals processes and address notes, and the importance of timely delivery of drafts and revisions. I can adapt to a wide variety of tones, genres, and formats, and I thrive on the challenge of bringing originality and imagination to every project I touch.

I’m currently open to new writing projects, so please email me at hellomeganlogan@gmail.com to learn more.

See below for a more detailed overview of my licensed, original, and nonfiction experience.

Licensed Fiction: Writing in-house and editing a large list of vertical and licensed titles at Disney and Marvel gave me firsthand experience in successfully navigating production pipelines with a number of key stakeholders. I’ve written for Spider-Man, the Avengers, Hawkeye, Hocus Pocus, and more, and I know how to bring the delicate balance of ingenuity and brand integrity to stories in a wide variety of formats.

Original Fiction: Since leaving Disney, I’ve worked in writing and developing original IP for smaller production companies. It’s allowed me to work muscles that normally exist outside of brand guardrails—creating original characters, building and changing worlds, and writing property bibles from the ground up.

Nonfiction: Prior to my time in licensed and original fiction, I worked in short and long-form nonfiction. I started my journalism career at WIRED as a fellow, then worked for a number of online outlets, including Inverse, Travel + Leisure, GOOD, GigaOm, Slate, and more. Following my time at Disney, I worked at Hachette developing and editing nonfiction titles in the 5-18+ space.
